Missing Link in today’s Repentance
In my reflections recently, I discover that a lot of people in this generation think they could be smarter than the almighty God. There has never been a place or realm where the creature can out-smart the creator. The creator knows exactly where to touch and the whole creature would be grounded. Many folks commit sin and when they claim repentance, they are still praying and jealously guarding the product of the sin they committed. For instance, someone robs a household and stole away with some valuable items. After hearing God’s word and claim he has repented; he does not want to make restitution or return those valuable items even when there are in his custody. For Zacchaeus the tax collector, it was not so. After his encounter with Jesus, he loudly declared to Jesus that he would restore up to fourfold, any item he had ever taken from others by false accusation(see Luke 19:8).
After the officer who jailed Paul and Silas repented, he immediately took them and washed their stripes, not just telling them to depart (Acts16:33).
How can a magician who claim he has repented, yet he is still preserving his magic book and mystical items. In Acts 19:19 it reads “ Also, many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all..”. That is true repentance, and it is the only way one can enjoy lasting freedom.
The real meaning of repentance is: turning away totally from the old ways and embracing the new
